It is so essential that we donate blood regularly to help our emergency services. We have been in a blood shortage crisis over the years and the need for blood does not end.
You could save a life in less than an hour.
This quick and painless process of donating blood could save up to three lives depending on the need. The average red blood cell transfusion is 3 pints (or 3 whole-blood donations).
The Blood Bank of Delmarva provides lifesaving blood and blood products to 1.5 million people and 19 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Check your eligibility to donate by looking at these simple requirements:
In good health
17 years or older (16 with a parent or guardian’s written consent)
Weigh at least 110 pounds
Antibiotics (except antibiotics for acne) if taken for infection, accept after last dose provided donor meets all other criteria.
Symptom-free for at least 72 hours following cold or flu
